Architect Zaha Hadid’s condo in Miami Beach listed for $7.95 million | Photos

A 2,541-square-foot residence in Miami Beach that served as the personal home of the late architect Zaha Hadid was listed earlier this month for $7.95 million.

The property consists of three units at The Residences at W South Beach, at 2201 Collins Avenue. Units 728 and 730 are combined and consist of two bedrooms and three baths. Unit 726, a one-bedroom, one-bath unit, has its own privacy lock-out door and can be used as an adjoining guest suite or staff quarters.

The combined residence is at the southeast corner of the building, providing views of the Atlantic Ocean and South Beach. It was completed in 2009.

“It’s a spectacular property, and there’s architectural significance within this unit,” said David Pulley, a director of luxury sales with Douglas Elliman Real Estate’s Sports & Entertainment Division, who holds the listing. “There’s a demand now for larger units — you don’t get three-bedroom units very often at The W and certainly not one that was completely redone by such a famous architect.”

Pulley said that Hadid’s influence can be seen in the unit, from “the sexy curves to the almost-futuristic look — everything she’s known for you get in the unit.”

Hadid, who died in 2016, was the founder of Zaha Hadid Architects and was awarded the Pritzker Architecture Prize in 2004. She was the designer of One Thousand Museum, a luxury condominium in Miami known for its distinctive concrete exo-skeleton, which was named a finalist in the 12th edition of ArchDaily’s Building of the Year Award in the housing category.

The beachfront W South Beach hotel is within walking distance of clubs, shops and parks. It offers an outdoor heated pool, basketball and tennis courts, a gym and spa and is home to Mr. Chow, an Asian restaurant, and other dining venues. The hotel recently completed a $30 million renovation. Unit owners have access to all the amenities and services the hotel offers.

“It’s centrally-located and is kind of the epicenter of everything people come to Miami Beach for,” Pulley said. “The W South Beach and Zaha Hadid are a great marriage.”
