MIAMI LAKES, FLA. – One person has died following a crash just off the Palmetto Expressway.

A Chevy mini-van collided with another vehicle on the southbound lanes of Northwest 57th Avenue near 167th Street, just before 6 a.m., Wednesday.

7SkyForce showed footage of tarps over the windows of the cars.

The Florida Highway Patrol shut down the eastbound exist to Red Road and the areas surrounding the crash.

Investigators were seen at the site for several hours as they worked to figure out what led to this tragedy.

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue were also called to the scene and used the Jaws of Life to help the medical examiner get to the body of at least one victim that was killed.

It remains unclear how many people were hurt in the crash.

Just after 9 a.m., roads near the crash site were reopened.

Police are asking for anyone that saw what led to the crash to contact them.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
