‘Flavortown’ in Florida: Guy Fieri visits local restaurants for his ‘DDD’ Food Network series

Parts of Palm Beach County got the “Flavortown” treatment this week when Food Network star Guy Fieri rolled through to film episodes of his “Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives” series.

On Friday, Fieri and his crew started the day of “DDD” shoots in West Palm Beach, where they visited Chef Clayton Carnes’ Cholo Soy Cocina on South Dixie Highway, then The Butcher Shop Beer Garden and Grill, where the food celebrity posed for photos with the staff, according to social media reports and photos.

From there, Fieri headed to Chef Tim Lipman’s Coolinary Café in northern Palm Beach Gardens, where on Thursday the crew shot supplemental footage for the episode, according to sources with knowledge of the shoots.

Spotted at the filming locations: Fieri’s iconic red Camaro, which bears the unmistakable, California specialty plate “FLVRTWN.”

Fieri himself was spotted at Lake Worth Beach Thursday. The celebrity stopped to pose for a beachfront picture with former city commission candidate Richard Guercio, who posted the photo on Facebook. “Seen at our beach today, seemingly checking things out. Is there a Johnny Garlic in Lake Worth’s future?” read his caption.

Fieri is no stranger to the charms of South Florida in February. He’s a regular at the South Beach Wine and Food Festival, which takes place at about this time every year. This year, the festival was postponed until May. Fieri traveled to Florida anyway.

The food celeb caused a stir in Martin County some days ago when he dropped in at Gilbert’s Coffee Bar in Stuart. The coffee shop owner told TCPalm that Fieri mentioned he was looking for real estate in the area.

It’s not the first time Fieri’s popular “DDD” series features a Palm Beach County establishment. In April 2009, Fieri and the crew visited the old, now-defunct Havana Hideout in Lake Worth, where chef Chrissy Benoit was making decadent pub grub out of a food truck kitchen. The following month, the show featured Flakowitz deli in Boynton Beach.
