ORLANDO, Fla. — Gov. Ron DeSantis and First Lady Casey DeSantis made an announcement at Orlando’s Amway Center on Friday at 11 a.m.

The governor and his wife addressed how to tackle issues regarding mental health.

First Lady Casey DeSantis discussed the stigma surrounding mental health among children.

The resiliency curriculum will focus on helping Florida children connect with mentors, get outdoors, and will provide incentives for physical activity.

The program is also designed to help young people receive mental health assistance, become empowered to learn how to persevere through life’s challenges and to stay on track despite adversity. The initiative will focus on teaching children how they can develop hope through tough times. Empathy, respect and responsibility will also be emphasized, First Lady Casey DeSantis said.
