A cross-county chase involving a stolen car led to a Miami-Dade Police Department officer taken to the hospital and three men taken into custody.
Florida Highway Patrol officials said the chase started in Broward County just after 9:30 a.m., when troopers spotted the stolen gray Maserati along I-95 near Sheridan Street and attempted to make a stop before it fled and entered Miami-Dade County.
MDPD officers assisted and the stolen car got off I-95 and struck a police cruiser near the intersection of Northwest 27th Avenue and 195th Street before traveling north on the Turnpike.
The officer who was in the cruise was injured and transported to an area hospital. Officials have not released the officer’s identity, but said the officer is in stable condition.
The car would later travel back into Broward and crashed south of Griffin Road. Police took 32-year-old Devonta Keon, 30-year-old James Dasher and a third person into custody and transported them to Memorial Regional Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
FHP detectives are continuing an investigation. Keon and Dasher are being charged felony Grand Theft, fleeing and eluding and driving without a license. Charges are pending against the third person.
