MIAMI – Miami police may have discovered a critical clue into whoever struck and killed a teen girl over the weekend.
Police have a car that could be connected to the hit-and-run death of 16-year-old Diani Gomez Sanchez, whose body was found Sunday morning along the NW 79th Street Causeway near the Pelican Harbor Marina.
The gray sedan was found off Dunham Boulevard and NE Bayshore Court, less than two miles from where Gomez’s body was discovered. It had damage on the right front side and the bottom right corner of the windshield.
Police said the car’s damage was consistent with “the subject vehicle involved in the hit-and-run crash.” They are waiting for lab results from evidence collected from the car to verify if it was or was not involved.
Gomez Sanchez disappeared Saturday morning while out for a run.
Gomez’s uncle found her body a day later.
Police said the car’s owner was brought in for questioning but has not been arrested.
