ALLAPATTAH, Fla. – Detectives said a teenage boy used social media to brag about a burglary on Thursday after stealing a puppy and two cars in Miami. He also threatened a police officer during his arrest and turned over a table during questioning at the station, police said.

Berta Martínez said she and her family were sleeping early Thursday morning a burglar broke into her home in Allapattah and stole Rocky, their 6-month-old French Bulldog. Surveillance video shows the burglar broke into one of the cars and drove away.

Officers said Martínez’s 15-year-old neighbor abandoned the car about three blocks away and returned to steal the second car — which officers spotted him driving.

Officers arrested the teenager. Detectives said the boy had stolen cars before and described him as “uncooperative.”

Martínez said she felt anguish when she couldn’t find Rocky. Surveillance video shows Rocky exiting the home through the front door after the burglar used a tool to pick the lock and stole their car keys.

Officers recovered both cars and Rocky was back home on Thursday afternoon. The teenage boy is facing felony charges, including grand theft and burglary.
