A Broward County woman was ambushed and attacked outside her own home in Wilton Manors.

The brutal beating left her with a broken nose and cheekbone.

The victim, Maria Krasnova, said she was trying to help her neighbors move furniture when the next thing she knew, she was being beaten over the head with a metal bar.

“I lock the doors, but I still don’t feel safe,” she said. “It’s just constant terror inside of me.”

Krasnova is not only emotionally scarred but physically too. She just got out of the hospital after the vicious attack, allegedly by her neighbor.

“I have a broken nose, a broken cheek, he damaged my nerve in the face,” she said. “On top of that, I have a lot of emotional trauma.”

It happened Saturday at Wilton House on Andrews Avenue.

Krasnova said her neighbor, Phillip Siegel, and his roommate asked her to move some furniture, and the next thing she knew, she was getting hit by a 30-inch metal bar.

The attack was unprovoked.

“As soon as I came in, it happened within seconds,” Krasnova said. “[Siegel] was in front of me, all I felt was a smack to my head.”

Krasnova was able to run to the house of another neighbor, Alejandro Sanchez, for help.

“She was like, ‘I need help, I need help. I just got assaulted. I just got hit in the face,’” Sanchez said.

Sanchez and Krasnova’s boyfriend, Jacob Rosario, confronted Siegel.

Rosario would become the next victim, fighting back in self-defense.

“I went to see who did this. He’s at the door, hits me and then the altercation happens,” Rosario said.

Siegel was arrested and has since appeared in bond court, at one point asking the judge how Krasnova was doing.

Krasnova believes Siegel, who said in court he has no memory of the incident, knew full well what he was doing. She’s seeking justice while thankful to be alive.

“I really thought I was going to die and now I’m here standing, and like, I’m sad and I’m scared, but I’m really happy,” she said.

The property manager at Wilton House told Local 10 News that Siegel has been given an eviction notice, and that when he moved in one year ago, a full background check was done and nothing turned up.
