Avenues: The World School has submitted plans to build a massive campus in Miami.

The move comes as a surge of new wealthy residents have been flocking to Miami during the pandemic.

Even before the pandemic though, elite schools in Miami had reported a sharp uptick in demand and long waiting lists, according to a 2019 report. Avenues had already begun planning its Miami location by then.

Avenues is for-profit and charges tuition of $62,700 at its New York location, according to its website.

The company also has schools in São Paulo, and Shenzhen. In addition to Miami, other campuses are planned in Silicon Valley and Shanghai.

The new Avenues Miami campus will be built next to the Brightline tracks, replacing the former Archbishop Curley-Notre Dame High School.

Construction at Avenues will take place in three phases, and will eventually include an early learning building, a primary school building, a high school building, a gym/pool complex, a garage, and a dormitory building.

Avenues will have a total floor area of 681,350 square feet upon completion.

The completed campus will have a 2,440-student capacity, including 288 boarding students in a 180-room dormitory.

Efficiency Lab for Architecture of Brooklyn is the design architect. Miami’s Zyscovich is the architect of record and executive architect.

Miami’s Urban Development Review Board is scheduled to review the proposal on February 16.
